The company Ironchip is a SME from Barakaldo that offers cybersecurity through location (using software based on location by waves) without relying on passwords. Its product, based on the concept of a safe place, is unique in the world and they already work with six of the ten main banks in Spain.
The company was created in 2017 on the initiative of Julen Martínez (current CEO) and José Fernando Gómez (CISO), two telecommunications engineers who met during their university days. The development of this platform provides them with a great knowledge of cybersecurity and they work on the concept of a safe place.
In 2018 they entered their first round of investments with Easo Ventures. Through the BIND4.0 program, promoted by the Basque Government, in 2019 they obtained another round of investment more focused on commercializing the solution.
Their product offers a unique solution to certify internet security, which eliminates passwords. They are pioneers in the world in secure identification through location. Location is easy to falsify. They use mobile technology and Wi-Fi waves to know for sure that you are where you say you are. Others are based on GPS, which does not guarantee 100% location. They are based on telephone waves, which are completely reliable.
If their product detects that the user is not where they say they are, the system immediately blocks communication. It is an identity platform that detects fraud. The technology allows you to locate where the operation is being carried out and, if the user does it from another place, access is blocked.
Their main clients are banks, industry and governments. We have six of the 10 main banks in Spain. Many hacks are done when they have access to your bank PIN and steal your mobile phone.
They have clients in Latin America and Portugal and they intend to enter countries like the United States.
