iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, first impression: much further
We already knew that this event was going to look good and of course Tim Cook's team has fulfilled all wishes. This round of first impressions began with the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, two models that inaugurated the new generation in an important advance of the keys of each device: a familiar design with new colors and a significant improvement in autonomy.
The new iPhone 14 Plus, which returns to the iPhone range, arrives with a new screen of 6.7". Both with OLED technology on the Retina XDR screen, which reaches a maximum brightness of 1200 nits with Dolby Vision support.
Improvements that we will see later in the analysis, such as the hardness of the front Ceramic Shield (Ceramic Shield). The improvements to the cameras also come with a new feature: the Photonic Engine that improves low-light performance, a new TrueDepth front-facing camera with an ultra-wide angle, and a newly improved True Tone flash that's 10% brighter.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, first contact
Personally, the design of the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus may look similar to the previous generation, but the new color scheme works very well in this generation: Midnight Purple, Star White, Product RED and Blue.
The pastel shades contribute to a more minimalist look and are very consistent across the range.
The edges that hug the screen in the same color as the back material work great on the iPhone 14: they look solid and are not at all slippery in the hand. The frame, notch and other physical components are the same as what we know.
The photos seen and tested in the demo area look impressive with the new model; they have yet to be tested in everyday environments. The weight is similar to the previous generation and it is compatible with all the MaSafe accessories we already know.
For those iPhone 14, the new iOS 16 fits perfectly. The color scheme of the new lock screens along with the new colors (we now understand the design decisions we saw at WWDC22 in June) blend perfectly and the usage is very consistent with the design.
