On this occasion, the new generation of the iPad Air is committed to inheriting many features of the old iPad Pro from 2022, but with a much more accessible price.

In terms of price - and features - it is between the iPad/iPad mini and the iPad Pro. This last model, presented at Apple's 'Let Loose' event, has the new Apple chip: the M4. However, despite not having this chip, the Air is not far behind, now carrying the M2 in its guts, both in the 11-inch model and in the new 13-inch version. It is an update of the M1 2022 and makes it, according to Apple, 50% faster than the previous generation.

To begin with, the most striking thing is the change in the position of the camera, which in this model is on the horizontal side, perfect in case we are using the iPad in landscape view. Apple has realized that more and more users use it with a keyboard to simulate the experience of a laptop - as we said at the beginning -, so this change in the design comes to please these people, who are almost the majority . We miss FaceID, since the iPad Air's biometric security system is still Touch ID (located on the on and off button). For some it will be more than enough, but in our case, since they had dared to change the layout of the camera, they could have introduced this technology.

Otherwise, it maintains the same appearance as the previous model, but there is a change in the colors. We now have four variants: black, star white, purple and blue, which are now a little less pastel and give the Air a slightly more classic touch. Even though Apple calls them the same between generations, the purple of this M2 model is not the same as that of the previous generation.

As for the screen, Liquid Retina technology is maintained for both diagonals, and despite the fact that the quality continues to surprise (it reaches 2K resolution). The battery can last the entire day without any problem.

Another advantage of the M2 chip in this new model is the arrival of the floating pointer, a technology that requires the M2 to exist. This novelty is especially interesting for drawing. The iPad Air now detects the position of the Apple Pencil up to 12 millimeters above the screen. This is so you can preview where you are going to mark, draw or write before starting the stroke. In this way, the precision in the line increases dramatically.
