Google lobbies for new copyright rights

Google has been mobilized before European copyright law. The US giant has launched a campaign in different media to express opposition to the rights of the European Union. As Mountain View says, the proposal of the European Parliament is "at stake", for example, the "diversity of content" offered by YouTube.

The European-funded legal reform aims to limit the use of "protected content", which providers "receive large amounts of work and other benefits". According to this criterion, "All of the services that allow content upload, including YouTube, would be responsible", says Google.

In article 11, the company will seek "protection of press releases" as it appears in the management proposal. Google believes that "Search services would require the implementation of licenses" because "they would benefit from the biggest publishers," because the company will never reach an agreement with all publishers. This service, Google News, closed in 2014 as a result of a change in national intellectual property legislation. If Google offers a free news system, it does not have to pay journalists' work.

Because of the high interest in these issues, Google has made an advertising campaign in the press and on Facebook and Twitter, even though the European Parliament document is not final. The next step would be a dialogue or trialogue between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, and once it has been ratified, it will be established within two years of national legislation.

Youtube copyright rights are protected by Content ID. In any case, it has the right to not get rid of copyright in order to eliminate all the routes uploaded on its platform.

The change in the law will have a great impact on Youtub, but also on other social networks, such as Facebook or Twitter. All content on Google is at risk, videos, as well as photos and texts.
