New Google Glass, matching rings and bracelets (I)

Google Glass veterans are already waiting for a new generation, which can finally be used in the home. Now we know important news about its use, with innovative control systems.

Arguably the most famous glasses in recent history, they have become quite popular in recent years when they were common devices among football coaches and used to access contextual information about matches. But then those glasses were just an experiment. Internally, however, they remain unknown, and we hope that Google will once again bring them to the mass market. Meanwhile, we have to continue to make do with the leaks that are happening around them. Now we know that Google is working on alternative accessories to control them naturally and more conveniently.

To control the rings

As you know, the previous Google Glass, which did not go beyond a small group of testers, were controlled by a touch panel on the side, the method we usually see in wireless headphones, thanks to touch panels. Well, Mountain View would be working on alternatives to control the glasses in a more natural way. And it would be based on the use of smart rings. And Google owns North, a company that manufactured smart glasses that were precisely controlled with a ring.

In this way, the glasses would eliminate the touch panel and the gestures we make with our hands to control comfortably with our fingers. Another alternative that these sources talk about is using a wristband to control the glasses.

In this way, it would also be quite easy to navigate through the various menus of the glasses, as well as perform additional actions with them, such as taking a photo or entering and exchanging content. It seems that the wristband would have haptic technology, which would simulate virtual buttons thanks to a sophisticated type of vibration.

To this day, Google glasses remain a mystery. The new generation that many expect to be presented at the next Google I/O in May 2023. It would not be surprising, as you know today, because the products presented by the Californian company in the last edition are not yet on the market. Therefore, it would not be unusual to know some official details, even if its appearance is recreated in a rendering, before all its details are officially revealed. In fact, today Oppo presented its new generation of augmented reality glasses, so it seems that something is moving in this segment.

However, the success of proposals of this type is in doubt, after none of the options that have come to the market in recent years have been well received. And that augmented reality can be very useful in a professional environment, and not so much at home. The latter is the biggest challenge for manufacturers.
