Google has opened a cyber security center in Japan, focused on promoting research on how to combat online attacks in response to threats from neighboring countries.
Google's office will be located in Roppongi, Tokyo, and will focus on research to promote cyber defense in the Asia-Pacific, and will be used to house training programs. Research data will be shared with local authorities, businesses and universities.
Heather Adkins, Google's vice president of security engineering, told Nikkei that cybersecurity experts from Japanese institutes are "willing to contribute to joint research" and that the company plans to invite engineers from India, Australia, South Korea and Southeast Asian countries. the project as reported by the Japan Times, there will be educational activities and political discussions on cyber security.
