Therefore, the President of Gaztenpresa, Ibon Urgoiti, emphasized in his presentation of the 2021 Report that it is essential to take into account the efforts of the Foundation's team to help people who need to continue with their projects.
However, thanks to all this work, the 2021 balance sheet has shown that the targets set have been met. Once again, the data has risen in 2021; Contributing to the creation of 278 businesses that have created 547 jobs. This means that the data has grown by more than 8.5% compared to 2020 figures. Therefore, in these 27 years, Gaztenpresa has created 6,264 businesses, 11,404 jobs and guaranteed financing of 183 million euros through LABORAL Kutxa.
At Gaztenpresa, due to their concern to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (GJH), they have adapted their goal: “We help people around us who want to be entrepreneurs, so that they have the greatest chance of success. Creating wealth by promoting employment ”.
"With this, we want to support the 5th, 8th and 10th GJHs, the 4th, 11th, 12th and 17th, by making a secondary contribution. we will be able to see that. "
With the figures in hand, we can see that 62% of businesses have been opened outside the provincial capitals, of which 29% have been in cities with less than 15,000 inhabitants. It is also worth noting that almost 20% of the companies created have an impact on society and the environment.
We can also say that 43% of the people who started businesses were unemployed, and 44% wanted to improve their current employment.
In terms of the legal form of companies, 74% have chosen individual entrepreneurship; 26% are commercial companies, 25% of which are in the social economy.
The survival rate of the companies created is remarkable, after five years. In Gaztenpresa, we have a figure of 72%; In the Basque Country, on the other hand, the average business survival rate is around 44% (Eustat data).
If we look at the profile of entrepreneurs last year, 44% are women. In terms of average age, it has risen by one year, reaching 40 years.
At Gaztenpresa, it is very important to know first hand what our impact is on the people we help. Therefore, several surveys have been conducted to find out about this situation. The most important thing is that the reduction in uncertainty has been the most valued aspect of the support provided by Gaztenpresa, without neglecting to draw up a business plan and obtain financing.
In addition, 90% say their business remained open after the first year. However, despite the closure of some companies, it is noteworthy that 60% of these people said they found work later.
The average investment in starting a new business has been high, although it has fallen for the second year in a row: € 71,200; In 2020, € 75,000. In addition, the average loan required to carry out a business project continues to fall.
We know that training is key when it comes to getting started. For this reason, we have launched Gaztenpresa Digitala, a space to consolidate the knowledge of all entrepreneurs in the Basque Country and Navarre about the world of entrepreneurship. In addition, the people who register, in addition to their regular support, will also have the online follow-up of an expert from the Foundation.
We cannot forget the 51 practical webinars held in 2021, inside our Gaztenpresa Room. These trainings dealt with issues related to the digital world and finance, and were attended by more than 500 people.
In line with regular activity, the mentoring program has formalized 33 new relationships, 14 more than in 2020. In this way, people with experience in the field of management and / or management can advise an entrepreneur to carry out the project. Also, the company consolidation program continues to provide support to companies to stay in the market.
Gaztenpresa will continue to work to make 2022 a more prosperous year in terms of entrepreneurship.
One of the aims of the Gaztenpresa Foundation is to promote an entrepreneurial culture among young people. In 2021, they have participated in a number of conferences and events, many of them in online format.
In addition, to strengthen our commitment to the university environment, we have partnered with the Junior Company to help them enter the market.
