FIWARE and Alastria, hand in hand

FIWARE and Alastria announced the signing of a partnership agreement last September 29 to integrate decentralized registry technologies and blockchains into the architecture of intelligent solutions based on FIWARE.

The open source technologies that make up FIWARE are emerging as a benchmark in the development of smart applications and platforms such as Smart Cities, Industry, Agri-Food, Energy or Water Management, and Alastriak has created the core network. The blockchain and international references used by companies in the main Spanish industries are essential in terms of methodology, technology, definition of the digital identity model and use cases.

The partnership aims to take a major step towards adopting decentralized technology and blockchain registries in both private and public organizations, accelerating the digitization of different sectors in the coming years and achieving higher levels of trust and security.

Intelligent solutions based on FIWARE are geared towards capturing, managing, and processing contextual data as a set of properties that describe digital entities that function as “digital twins” of objects in the real world. Examples of digital twins are those depicting buses, streets, shops, or city claim sheets; or farm crops, tractors or drones.

Some of these smart solutions may require the recording of certain actions / events so that the record is not manipulated by any agent and can ensure proper audit and certification of processes. This will eventually be achieved with the integration of FIWARE and decentralized or blockchain technologies. The FIWARE Foundation and Alastria will work together to promote the development of projects testing this integration and disseminate their results. In addition, Alastrian experts will help determine the FIWARE roadmap in the field of blockchain or described book technologies.

Advantages

"The agreement with the FIWARE Foundation will help expand the benefits of decentralized registry technologies and the use of blockchain, such as Smart Cities, the agri-food industry or the Industry 4.0 paradigm in product manufacturing, where FIWARE is important," said Montserrat. Guardia, General Manager of Alastria, “Blockchain technology is a technology that can accelerate the creation of high-impact projects for society in a transversal way. Thanks to a collaboration agreement with the FIWARE Foundation, its broad vision can be integrated into the analysis of DLT solutions. , in a whole new way, ”explained Jesús Ruiz, CTO and member of the Alastria Board of Directors. Ulrich Ahle, CEO of the FIWARE Foundation, however, reaffirmed the importance of this collaboration, stressing: "Alastria is a leading organization in the field of major books and blockchain decentralized technologies. Your network is taken as a reference. "Our missions are complementary and we are pleased with this partnership with Alastria." In addition, Juanjo Hierro, CEO of the FIWARE Foundation, explained: "We are very excited to advise Alastria experts on the activities related to the definition of our technical roadmap and the idea of exploiting the great potential of integration. , but rather properly collected data, for example, through sensors, robots or information systems ”.
