And as in the field of automobiles and motorcycles, hydrogen is proposed as an alternative to battery-powered electric cars, although the solution for electric bicycles is more viable than for other types of mobility.

This is because the pedelec bike uses the electric motor to assist the pedals, which means that the necessary energy expenditure is low. And in Europe only this type of electric support is allowed and, in any case, when the bike reaches a speed of 25 km/h, said support must be stopped.

This means weight savings for the battery pack, but also, in this case, for the hydrogen tank that needs to be installed. The 180 watt electric motor is enough to provide the rider with electric assistance for 60 kilometers. And knowing that refueling with hydrogen only takes a few seconds, compared to what it would take to charge a battery.

Since there is no place to find hydrogen, the company has also presented a compact generator, using solar panels, capable of producing 20 grams of green hydrogen per 200 milliliters of fresh water, and in approximately five to six hours. This means you can generate your own fuel at home, which will be pressurized directly into the tank.

The way these hydrogen cell schemes work is by mixing this compound with oxygen, which creates an internal chemical reaction that ends up generating electricity, and has no harmful emissions to the environment.

Features of the Hyryd range

HydroRide's Hyryd bicycles respond to different design types, although they are all intended for urban use. There is a folding one that weighs less than 20 kilos, another more 'traveling' style, and a third one with a bolder cut.

In any case, they reach a speed of 23 km/h with electric motor support, use disc brakes and respond to the aforementioned 60 km/h range, depending on the level of pedal support chosen.
