DiscoverEU 2023, arrival (II)

What is DiscoverEU?

DiscoverEU is an action of the Erasmus+ program, which gives you the opportunity to discover Europe through learning experiences. Traveling mainly by train (exceptions are allowed for those living in islands or remote areas), you will discover the amazing landscapes of Europe and its many cities and towns. You can apply in two application rounds every year. Selected applicants are given a travel card.

As an 18-year-old from the European Union or one of the third countries associated with the Erasmus+ Programme, such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey, DiscoverEU offers you the opportunity to participate in a travel experience. It will allow you to explore the diversity of Europe, learn about its cultural heritage and history and connect with people from all over the continent. In addition, DiscoverEU gives you, as a young person, the opportunity to develop life skills that are useful for your future, such as independence, confidence and openness to other cultures.

From 2022, selected participants will receive a DiscoverEU discount card with discounts on cultural visits, learning activities, sports, local transport, accommodation, food and more.

When is the next round?

Since the first round of applications in June 2018, more than 165,000 young people have been given travel cards. Another round will take place from Tuesday 11 October 2022 at 12:00 (CEST) to Tuesday 25 October 2022 at 12:00 (CEST).

To be eligible, you must:

  • Being born between January 1, 2004 (inclusive) and December 31, 2004 (inclusive); the correct identity card (ID), passport or legal residence card number on the online application form.
  • Be a citizen or long-term legal resident of one of the following countries: one of the member states of the European Union including overseas countries and territories (OCT); or one of the third countries associated with the Erasmus+ program: Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey.
  • You will then be asked to take part in a quiz (unless you apply as a team member).
  • If you are selected, you can travel for a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 30 days between March 1, 2023 and February 29, 2024.
  • Please note that if you have a disability or health problem that makes your journey difficult, you will receive support to help you get in on the action.
  • If you are too young to participate in this round, don't worry. There will be a round every year in spring and autumn.
