The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism issued an order this September. It includes the approval of the regulatory bases for the granting of aid aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, aimed at young people registered in the file of the National Youth Guarantee System. Young entrepreneurs who receive grants can receive a maximum of 3,000 euros, according to the Official State Gazette (EAO BOE).
Specifically, the EOI Foundation will provide a maximum grant of up to 3,000 euros to each beneficiary, with the aim of covering the financial exercise carried out in the six months following the formal start of the activity. The amount may not exceed 75% of the amount of eligible expenses.
The aid regulated in these bases is part of the youth employment action program. According to the ministry, this European Commission initiative aims to launch new lines of support for young people between the ages of sixteen and thirty who are unemployed or studying (‘ninis’).
The aim of these grants is for young people to start an entrepreneurial project and create self-employment. To access these grants, young people must be registered in the file of the National Youth Guarantee System and must be beneficiaries when applying for a grant with the EOI Foundation.
In addition, it is necessary not to start an activity before applying for the grant, and applicants must be up to date with their tax obligations.
According to the order, the call for grants will regulate the geographical scope of application of these grants. Beneficiaries must provide information on all relevant documents and activities within the relevant period, "expressly stating their call and origin" and, where appropriate, co-financing with European Social Fund funds, from the Youth Employment Initiative, within the Youth Employment Operational Program.
In addition, when the beneficiary is a legal entity, they must publish it on the aid website. The eligible period includes the six months following the formal start of the entrepreneurial activity, when it is registered in the Economic Activity Tax (IAE) and in the Social Security scheme necessary for its development.
"The EOI Foundation will be able to monitor the work done by the entrepreneur. To this end, it may seek expert advice on specific issues deemed necessary," according to the order.
