Can you imagine taking out the music projected from their arms to their ears when they put on some glasses? That’s what Bose Frames does, which is a bead that is available in two designs (“Rondo” or “Alto”). They operate wirelessly, come with a battery that lasts more than three hours in a row, and have a microphone for talking on the phone. Its normal price is 230 euros, and they can be your best allies for the summer days.
Bose Frames are not glasses with headphones, nor are headphones adapted to glasses. Bose has used his knowledge of sound to design something else, much more amazing when you try everything. Each arm has a small speaker and an acoustic cavity open to the ears. The music they play is projected directly into our ear, but in no way covered.
This has two advantages: first, because your ears are covered, you perceive ambient sound (if someone is talking to you), which means it doesn’t isolate you. Secondly, the sound is projected to the ear and the people around you will not listen to the music, nor will wearing the headphones bother you. If you try it, you will be amazed at how well it works and how good it works.
In addition to creating sound, Bose Frames also “listens” to it. You can use your Bluetooth connection to talk on your mobile phone, and they carry a sensitive microphone. To do this, or access Siri or Google Assistant. Fresh touch: If you remove them and leave them on the table, they turn off and save battery life (lasts just under four hours with music).
Bose Frames are available in two models with slightly different styles and sizes. The “Rondo” has a more classic style (rounded as the name suggests) and is more compact measuring 49 x 15 x 154 millimeters.
“Alto,” on the other hand, is more straightforward and slightly larger, measuring 52 x 18 x 162 millimeters. They weigh very little (45 grams) and are made of durable nylon plastic.
Want other crystals? No problem: It makes it easy to change the crystals that Bose Frames carries. In Bose itself, there are two other types of glasses for each type of glasses. The Alto model has “Mirrored Silver” (polarized) and “Blue Gradient” (non-polarized) options. As for the Rondo model, it can vary between “Mirrored rose gold” (polarized) and “Blue gradient” (non-polarized). You can also make custom glasses for your optics, as there are manufacturers with compatible models if you need to graduate.
Augmented reality is something Bose is incorporating into some of its models. Your 700 series or QC35 headphones are compatible, and now Frames glasses too (iOS only). That’s very striking: the glasses accelerometer and mobile GPS are combined to “position” you and let you know where you’re looking. This way, they can guide you in a tourist environment or take you to an address. Either help you feel like you are in the middle of a golf course, or a football field or a cosmic battle.
When you put your music back on, you’ll be amazed at how these glasses sound “without headphones”.
