The IKERLAN technology center is participating as a technical coordinator in the aiXia project, a collaborative artificial intelligence initiative funded by the Basque Government through the Hazitet program. Its goal is to develop a platform that will enable Industry 4.0 to securely share data and exploit it as needed.
Thanks to its multi-technological capabilities and cutting-edge experience in digitization, IKERLAN is participating in three major development areas of aiXia: secure digital space, developing sustainable artificial intelligence solutions for business collaboration and creating new business models. To develop AiXia, the European federated Gaia X data platform, in which IKERLAN participates, has been taken as a basis.
In order to develop AiXia, IKERLAN is working on the necessary architecture to manage the standardization, interoperability, governance and control of the use and sharing of data for companies in various sectors. Furthermore, the sustainability of the digital infrastructure has been taken into account, in order to automatically optimize the resources consumed.
Likewise, the IKERLAN team is responsible for finding and integrating new artificial intelligence services that will be able to respond to the heterogeneous needs and specific use cases of the aiXia project consortium companies.
Finally, the technology center also works to create new business models based on the monetization of data and the sale of federated services. This will enable the development and organization of machine learning lifecycles, thereby facilitating the deployment of AI-based solutions that are sustainable and adaptable over time.
Higher business volume
aiXia wants to create new business opportunities for Basque companies, based on data servitization and economy. Thanks to the solution developed within the framework of the project, the industry will increase its annual turnover by up to 4% and the international business volume will increase by 5%. It is a project led by LANTEK, and, together with IKERLAN, the companies Mondragon Assembly, Eroski, Goizper Group, Ingeteam, Lis Data Solutions and Ubikare participate.
"At IKERLAN we are proud to encourage a new collaborative and safer industrial digitization with projects like aiXia", said Santi Txarramendieta, the technical coordinator of IKERLAN's proposal, and stated that "the new data centers will change the way companies share and use their data and knowledge. Thanks to this technological platform, the data economy becomes a reality, and it encourages access to technologies such as artificial intelligence. This, in addition to increasing the turnover and international reach of the Basque industry, establishes new sustainable business models. This project is a step forward for digitization that respects governance and sovereignty in exchange for secure knowledge, promoting collaboration and unlocking an unprecedented market potential for our partners and the business community in general."
