The 10th Abiatu Awards were held on December 2nd. Bizkaia Aretoa will host the tenth edition of the Abiatu Awards, which recognise the creation of innovative and technology-based university companies on the UPV/EHU Bizkaia campus.

These awards are part of the Zitek Programme promoted by the Department of Economic Promotion, Beaz and the UPV/EHU in order to encourage entrepreneurship on the Bizkaia campus of the university.

Created in 2003 and held every two years, they recognise the creation of companies promoted by current students as well as postgraduates, teachers, researchers, interns and university spin-offs.

The objectives of the Program are:

• To promote the emergence of projects that can be transformed into companies.
• To support and spread the business culture among the university community.
• To take advantage of the innovative potential of the university for the generation of new companies.
• To promote new formulas for access to the work environment, due to its importance in the revitalization and renewal of the business fabric.

The awards have a maximum endowment per project of €6,000 and a minimum of €2,000.
