Xiaomi has become a giant in the world of consumer electronics. The Asian company, in addition to being on the podium of the world's leading smartphone manufacturers with Apple and Samsung, also wants to strengthen itself in other product segments.
In his catalog, we could find things from headphones to scooters. Now, however, there is also an external battery for the iPhone. Yes, as strange as it may seem, Xiaomi has introduced a device for the Cupertino smartphone. Let's see what this proposal has to offer.
Xiaomi wireless magnetic power bank for iPhone
The Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power 5,000 mAh is an external battery designed for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 family (not including the iPhone 14). Thanks to MagSafe technology, it attaches magnetically to the back of the device and charges at 7.5 W.
So far, the only difference with Apple's MagSafe External Battery is capacity. Cupertino's proposal offers 1,460 mAh; so it lags behind in this section. In terms of wireless power, there is no difference, although it took an update from Apple to reach 7.5 W.
However, this is not the only difference. The Xiaomi Power Bank has bi-directional USB-C ports with 20W input and 12W output. It also has a vertical base that allows the phone to be placed with the Xiaomi MagSafe battery attached. In this case, both devices will be charged.
The advantage Apple's MagSafe external battery offers over Xiaomi's is that it can be used as a wireless charger. It must be paired with an Apple USB-C charger to charge any type of device that uses the Qi standard.
Where to buy Xiaomi external battery for iPhone?
Xiaomi's new MagSafe external battery for the iPhone is currently available in China for 99 yuan (about 29 euros). It is a cheaper price than Apple's original proposal (119 euros). However, we do not know at the moment if it will reach other markets.
Apple's MagSafe battery
Apple's first external battery charging device was released in July 2010 with a rechargeable battery. It was a minimalist charger that included six high-quality rechargeable batteries (some were Sanyo Eneloops), the set of which went on sale for 29 euros. Not a bad price for a product of this type considering the compact design - with the possibility of changing the plug adapter if we were traveling to another country - as well as the six batteries included.
In fact, its "low" price, compared to other Apple products, managed to make this battery charger a kind of souvenir, something that many bought when they visited an Apple store for the first time, Apple stores
They appeared in the same year they arrived in Spain. It was discontinued in 2016, but I'm sure many of you still have it at home.
