A humanoid robot soon

Tesla, a world-renowned company for its vehicles and its owner Elon Musk, has announced that it is working to create a humanoid robot, tentatively known as the Tesla Bot. This android will be based on the artificial intelligence technologies of its cars, namely the technologies of the cars that drive its autopilots.

This was announced by the American company as part of the AI Day event. It has announced innovations aimed at developing new features of Artificial Intelligence, ‘along with hardware’.
The American company explained that the Tesla Bot is a bipedal device for “general use” and is now aimed at performing “unsafe, repetitive, or boring” tasks that only humans can perform.

Tesla has advanced that it is looking for engineers for the project of its new robot, and with this it wants to bring its experience in artificial intelligence from its fleet of vehicles, especially one that allows autonomous driving.

Also at the event, Tesla CEO Elon Musk assured that the device will be “real” and “pleasant” to humans and that he hopes to have a prototype ready next year. What has been seen so far has been a similarly dressed mime and then a mannequin with the external features that the robot will have, which is expected to be like the video released by the company.

Characteristics

The Tesla Bot will be 1.72 meters tall and weigh about 57 pounds, and is expected to be able to carry loads of up to 20 pounds, as well as lift 68 pounds. The maximum speed will be 8 kilometers per hour.

His movement is based on the use of 40 “electromechanical actuators” distributed throughout his ‘humanoid body’, which will include his legs, arms and hands. It is also planned to use other elements of the company’s vehicles, such as autopilot cameras on the head or a trunk computer with Tesla’s navigation software.
“Tesla is the world’s largest robotics company because cars are semi-sensitive robots on wheels,” he said. “So it makes sense to put that in humanoid form,” he added.

Discussion of assisted driving

This assertion is given when the company is in the midst of a growing study because of its assisted driving system, which is precisely what U.S. regulators are investigating after a number of accidents.

Tesla has pointed out that drivers are convinced that vehicles with an autopilot system can drive on their own. The discussion about autopilot was not addressed in the two-and-a-half-hour online conference, and the audience did not ask any questions about it.

Instead, Musk made sure that his future robot would be benevolent. The Tesla Bot, which will have five-fingered hands and come in black and white, is said to be “nice” and yet built so that it can “escape and shut down in any way”. “We hope that never happens, but who knows,” he said jokingly.
