Huawei Pocket S, price and availability

The new Huawei Pocket S has been announced in China at a starting price of 5,988 yuan (about 832 euros in exchange). At the moment we do not know if the device will reach other markets, including Spain.

Obstacles

Shell-type mobile phones have a significant drawback: except for their compact size when folded, they do not provide new functionality, because the expanded screen is the same as the most traditional mobile phone. It is true that they usually have a small second screen to use the mobile without unfolding, but not much.

It's not like a foldable phone that opens like a book, like the Huawei Mate Xs, where the unfolded screen is twice the size of a phone and turns into a tablet.

Therefore, clamshell mobiles need to adjust the price more if they want to dominate. And that's exactly what Huawei has done with the new Pocket S, which is basically the Huawei P50 Pocket, but with more colorful casings and some hardware cuts to reduce the price by 50%.

It is a mobile clam or shell type, which is folded in half, horizontally. When folded, it measures only 8.7 x 7.5 x 1.5 cm, so it can be carried in a small bag without taking up much space.

It will be sold in white, black, green, yellow, pink and blue colors, all in very light shades.

Constantly folding and unfolding a phone is a problem, especially for people who check their notifications 300 times a day.
