The Basque Government, in the Professional Women's Network

The Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policies, Nerea Melgosa, participated in the Leadership equilibrado ante la diversidad - LEAD workshop organized by the Professional Women's Network on March 23rd. The Professional Women's Network is an international movement that works to advance women's professional careers and gender equality in companies. The meeting took place at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao.

"It is important to demolish false myths. For example, the myth that we don't have enough training to fill leadership positions. About 60% of people with higher education in the Basque Country are women. However, only 6% of management positions are held by women. And the motive is not lack of training or leadership. The only reason is that many companies have perpetuated the privileges and roles of men", said the minister.

Melgosa also asked for the involvement of the male sector. "I want to make a special appeal to the men; because, as we women have entered the public sphere, you must accept your responsibility in the private sphere. This is one of the great challenges that continues to condition gender equality at all levels".

The minister went on to talk about the advantages and benefits of companies committed to equality. "The promotion of equality in companies should be considered an element for innovation, quality and the continuous improvement of our institutions and society. One thing is certain. The commitment to equality leads to a better working environment, and leads to mutual reconciliation and recognition of talent".

Finally, Minister Melgosa concluded by saying: "we must build a society that will allow women to develop all their potential based on equality".

Network of Professional Women

Over the years, this cycle has strengthened the bonds of our members, giving them a safe place to express themselves and an opportunity to support each other.

At PWN, we are committed to sharing our knowledge and connections, helping our members whenever possible. We believe that there is room for all of us to succeed, and this incredible network of women can help us achieve that.

The Women's Professional Network's mission is to help women develop their careers, improve their businesses, and mentor the next generation of female entrepreneurs through educational programs, resource sharing, and networking opportunities.
