A watch that cares for the elderly

The new proposal for people over 60 and people with a low level of addiction is a watch with microphone and speaker, emergency button, GPS and the possibility of detecting falls, indoors and outdoors.

The solution also has an application with an alert system that notifies relatives of emergency situations, informing them of their location and vital signs in real time.

Called Reloj TeCuida, it comes with a launch offer of €24.90 per month, including the cost of the terminal, and is available from May 22 in more than 800 Movistar stores, at number 1004 and on the website www.movistar.es/relojtecuida.

Movistar has presented Reloj TeCuida, a new teleassistance service aimed at people over 60 and with a low level of dependency, which detects falls, both indoors and outdoors. It also helps them in emergency situations, anywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, finding the person, notifying their contacts and providing the necessary assistance.

In alert situations, such as sudden discomfort, disorientation or any other type of sensation where the person feels in danger, the watch wearer can generate an alert by pressing the watch's emergency button, which communicates with the control center. The Movistar Prosegur Alarms provider thus activates the emergency protocol. In a few seconds, the central agent calls the watch to check the person's condition and sends the necessary help. If the watch user cannot be reached, the agent will call emergency contacts to handle the alert.

Also, the smart watch allows the detection of falls and automatically sends an alert to the Movistar Prosegur Alarm center by activating the previous protocol. In addition, the service has an application for caregivers or relatives of elderly or dependent people, where it checks the location of the watch and the person's activity parameters, such as the number of steps, heart rate and blood oxygen, as long as sharing is allowed.

The solution notifies if the user has left the usual areas in which he is traveling and receives notifications of warnings generated by the service. And in case of emergency, in addition to the notification in the application, primary contacts receive an SMS so that they are always informed.

With Reloj TeCuida, Movistar continues to expand its range of solutions aimed at making life easier for its customers, in accordance with the positioning of 'Movistar, better', with which it aims to be a comprehensive provider of services for the home and people.

According to INE data, in 2022 people aged 60 or over were more than 26% of the Spanish population. "Supported by our connectivity, technology and experience, this solution is aimed at making users' daily lives easier, making them feel safer without limiting their independence. To them and those close to them, such as relatives and carers. "It is a proposal that uses technology to provide a personalized service, putting innovation at the service of people," says Micaela Martelli, Director of Health at Telefónica España.

On the occasion of the launch, users will be able to get a monthly offer of 24.90 euros, which includes the cost of the watch and a three-year warranty.

The new service is available to both Movistar customers and non-customers from May 22 in more than 800 Movistar stores throughout Spain. It can also be purchased online at www.movistar.es/relojtecuida and by calling 1004.
